Kayla Caldeira is a West Coast-based filmmaker and photographer. She is also the owner of Tamago Films.
Kayla is a filmmaker and photographer born and raised in Hawai‘i and now residing on the West Coast. Her experience crosses all departments but she has a soft spot for cinematography and producing.
Some of her favorite projects are often the ones she finds most challenging. From producing and filming a snow sport film, coordinating logistics for a short film nearly 5000 miles away, or finding a healthy meal for crew in remote cabin towns across the West Coast.
Most recently, she begun production on a short film that follows a group of elderly kite-foilers who have refined their craft of repairing boards and kites. The short film will be her directorial debut.
Her passion lies in telling stories with depth that challenge beliefs, encourage empathy, and highlight the intersection between humans and the natural world. Her approach to filmmaking starts with the understanding that her films might not save the world, but maybe they can inspire it to change. In 2024, she created Tamago Films with the desire to use film and photography as a tool for impactful connection.
When she’s not working, you can usually find her on a board (surf, skate, snow), a field kicking a ball, or rating the lattes and hotdogs of the West Coast. (She’s happy to share her list ;))
